The afternoon started with a session from the National Whiteboard Network. This proved to be a useful source of tips and techniques that we can use in our classrooms. Don't forget that the NWBN site is updated regularly with new resources - why not add it to your favourites?

This was a very unispiring session.

I was waiting to see the 'I' in IWB, most or all of what she did could have been done without the board, just by using a projector.

For an expert I was very surpised that she didn't move the tools onto the LHS of the board, the alignment of the objects and colours used were very poor.

I am positive that we have better exponents of IWB's in T&W - bring on the HOS team.

Know your audience! Maybe as an introduction to what an IWB is delivered to a group of technophobes this would have been useful but to an LEA which is so advanced with technology and the leaders of this subject who are interested in enhancing children's learning - why???
Very dissapointing and to be told "this is an open question!" very insulting!
We do have more knowledgable teachers and support within our LEA-why waste money? Lets have a T&W workshop next year HOS presenting what they can do I am sure this would be far more beneficial.

I think the LEA is at the forefront of using ict to support teaching and learning..although it was disappointing it made it clear that we have a lot of talent in T+W

I felt that the speaker did not address the main point i.e. how an IWB impacts on learning. I did not go away feeling that my pupils would learn more using one. Some great tools demonstrated, BUT no real demonstration of why an IWB is "better".

Five Little Speckled Frogs is much more fun when the children have the opportunity to hold a representative frog (a picture toy etc.) and leap. This was clearly an an example by the speaker of when ICT and an IWB is inappropriate.
Can't stop seeing shapes in the environment though...there is one of those air con fans in Beatties Ladies' Loo if anyone is dying to try their new camera out...not for the boys though!
